Barbara Ann Lenz

Barbara Lenz, age 91, of Trimont, and formerly of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Seasons Healthcare Nursing Home in Trimont, Minnesota. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 pm Friday, May 17, 2023, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Interment will follow in the Hoiland Lutheran Cemetery outside Garvin, Minnesota.

Barbara Ann Kania was born on October 10, 1932, in Nashville, Illinois. She was the daughter of Peter and Agnes Kania. Barbara grew up in Bellevue, Illinois, where she was active in the Catholic Church. She was baptized, received her first communion, and was later confirmed there. She attended Catholic school and graduated from high school in 1950.

In 1952, Barbara was united in marriage to James W. Lenz and the couple made their home and farmed near Lake Park, Iowa. They had two sons, Dean and Lester, and then following a divorce Barbara moved to Marshall, Minnesota.

Barbara initially helped on the family dairy farm but later spent the majority of her career as a dietitian working at local hospitals. She enjoyed caring for those she worked with and also watching after her children. In her spare time, she loved to shop and spent many hours seeing what the next offering was on the Home Shopping Network.

Barbara Lenz died on Saturday, May 11, 2024, in Trimont, Minnesota. She had reached the age of 91 years, 7 months, and one day. Blessed be her memory.

She is survived by her sons, Dean Lenz of Saint James, Missouri, Lester Lenz of Garvin; 2 grandchildren, Brent and Dara; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Agnes Kania; sister, Elizabeth Dust; and a brother, Lawrence Kania.
