Beatrice Deloris Patzer

Beatrice “Bea” Deloris Patzer, age 88, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Monday, April 16, 2018, at Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Marshall, Minnesota. Funeral Services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall. Interment will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. A prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., at the church.

Beatrice Deloris (Ulrich) Patzer was born on December 25, 1929, in Stutsman County, North Dakota, to John and Bertha (Birkholz) Ulrich. She was baptized as an infant at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Home, North Dakota. In the early 1940s, she, with her parents, moved to Jamestown, North Dakota. She was confirmed at Our Savior’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on June 27, 1943. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1948.

On May 28, 1950, Bea married Archie Patzer at Our Savior’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jamestown, North Dakota. She worked in the abstract office in Jamestown. In November of 1953 they moved to Watertown, South Dakota, and in January of 1967 moved to Marshall, Minnesota. They purchased the Gambles Store in October 1969. In 1989 they joined the Hardware Hank franchise. Bea worked with Archie at Gambles and later at Patzer’s Hardware Hank into her early 80s.

Bea was a loving and faithful wife to Archie until his death in 1996. She is a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to six children, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was active in her church and sang in the church choir for many years. She loved to bake and was an avid canner. She enjoyed crafts, sewing and needlework, especially crocheting, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and family game night. Pit was a family favorite.

Bea moved to Heritage Pointe in Marshall on January 1, 2014. She passed away there on Monday, April 16, 2018. She had reached the age of 88 years, 3 months and 22 days.

She is survived by her children, Cathy (Thomas) Kosobayashi of North Oaks, MN, Thomas (Sherri) Patzer of Mitchell, SD, Beth Fliss of Chaska, MN, Lyle (Rose) Patzer and Mark (Colette) Patzer of Marshall; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda) Patzer, Amanda (Greg) Neppl, Peter (Courtney) Fliss, Emily Fliss (fiancé Justin Drees), Margo (Matthew) Mukomela, Benjamin Patzer, Mitchell Patzer (fiancé Nicole Bailey), Hannah Patzer, and Austin Patzer (fiancé Megan Vik); three great-grandchildren, Charles and Henry Patzer and Chloe Fliss; extended family members, many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Archie; infant son, Ryan; her parents; sisters, Agnes Linstrom, Hattie Wutzke, Hannah Leapoldt, Gertrude Guenther and Eunice Peda; brothers, Edward, Arthur and Norman Ulrich.
