Billy Meyer, age 63, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Monday, May 18, 2020, peacefully at his home. Private Memorial Service will be on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Marshall. Interment will follow in the Jeffers Cemetery, Jeffers, Minnesota. A Drive-Through Visitation, open to the public, will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Marshall. Please stay in your vehicle and converse through an open window, and at a safe distance, as the family will be available to receive condolences in front of the church building.
Billy John Meyer was born on February 13, 1957, in Windom, Minnesota, to Glen and Mary (Vandermoon) Meyer. He grew up in Jeffers, Minnesota, and was baptized, received first communion, and was confirmed at St. Augustine Catholic Church. He attended school Storden-Jeffers and graduated high school with the class of 1975. Billy then farmed with his father and furthered his education in Waseca and Jackson, Minnesota.
Billy was united in marriage to Penny Kiihn on August 24, 1985, at the Dovray Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Marshall and had 2 daughters. Billy spent over 30 years working for Marshall Municipal Utilities as a lineman, retiring just 2 years ago.
Billy was an active member of Pheasants Forever and the Marshall Golf Club. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting. Billy showed his athleticism by running track and playing football, baseball, and golf. He enjoyed traveling, watching any Minnesota sports team, and was meticulous about his car and his clothing. Billy also was quite the handyman and liked to show his carpentry skills in the furniture he made.
Billy Meyer died on May 18, 2020, in Marshall, Minnesota. Gone too soon at the age of 63 years, 3 months, and 5 days. Blessed be his memory.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Meyer of Jeffers; daughters, Brittney Meyer of Marshall, Brianna (Trevor) Wagner of Hastings; 3 grandchildren, Eliza Meyer, Alayna Horvath, Everly Horvath; siblings, Julie Carter of Apple Valley, Nick (Vicky) Meyer of Mankato, Jim (Barb) Meyer of Eagan; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Billy is preceded in death by his father, Glen Meyer, and a nephew, Dustin Carter.
