Brenda Lynn Buss

Marshall: Brenda (Huisman) Buss, age 65, of Marshall, formerly of Denver, IA, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. A Marshall visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service at Hamilton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 31st at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Denver, IA. Visitation in Iowa will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver, IA.
Brenda Lynn was born on January 19, 1948 in Eldora, IA to Dick D. and Nettie (Weichers) Huisman. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wellsburg, IA. Brenda attended schools in Wellsburg, graduating in 1966. She then went on to Ellsworth Junior College in 1967.
On September 28, 1968, Brenda was united in marriage to Gene E. Buss at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waverly, IA. To this union two children were born, Jason and Gina. They lived in Waverly and Denver, IA before moving to Marshall, MN. She was employed in the Customer Service Department of Schwan Food Company, retiring in 2008. She was a faithful member of St Stephen Lutheran Church.
The love of her life was her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Brenda’s other enjoyments included flowers and plants, collecting her Dickens Village pieces, and other types of collectibles including Victorian ladies, cups, saucers and bells.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Gene, of Marshall, MN; two children. Jason A. (Michelle) Buss of Marshall and Gina L. (Brandon Simpson) Curtis of Marshall; four grandchildren, Steven and Mika Curtis, and Alex and Ben Buss all of Marshall; sister, Joyce Mayeraan of Wellsburg, IA; brother Dennis (Norma) Huisman of Wellsburg, IA; brother-in-law, Dale Nederhoff of Galena, IL; and also many other relatives and friends.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Nederhoff and brother-in-law, Frank Meyeraan Jr.
