Bruce Knieff, age 74, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Funeral Services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Marshall, Minnesota. Interment will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. A Prayer Service and Memory Share is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Visitation will then continue one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday at Cornerstone United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Memorial Park in Marshall, Minnesota. Thank you.
Bruce Arnold Knieff was born January 2, 1948, in Marshall, Minnesota, to parents Cecil and Marjean (Corrow) Knieff. He was baptized and confirmed at Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshall. In his early years, Bruce attended Clifton Township Country School before graduating Marshall High School as the youngest in the class of 1965.
In 1968, Bruce followed his calling and joined the United States Army where he served as Door Gunner in the Vietnam War. After returning home from the war, Bruce helped out on the family farm for a number of years. On January 18, 1980, Bruce was united in marriage to Kathleen Mercie in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He owned a Lawn Care and Snow Removal business before retiring.
Bruce was a key member in the planning and building of Memorial Park and assisted in bringing the Vietnam Traveling Wall to the area in Hanley Falls and Marshall. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign War, American Legion Post 113, and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 290. While Bruce was a very busy individual, he always made time for family. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with them, especially with his grandson, Chance, who lovingly referred to Bruce as “Pop Pop”. Together, the family went camping and fishing. He enjoyed going on long trips with his Harley, in the summer.
Bruce Arnold Knieff died in Rochester, Minnesota on May 25, 2022. He had reached the age of 74 years, 4 months, and 23 days. Blessed be his memory.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Knieff of Marshall; three children, Danielle Lonich-Waller of Georgia, Angie (and James) Andrews of Marshall, Dawn Knieff of Marshall; 6 grandchildren, Chance, Jennica, Jade, Jiana, Aliviah and D’Marcus.; 2 sisters, Carol Serreyn of Marshall, and Jan (and Cathy Hare) Knieff of the Twin Cities; nephews, nieces, other relatives, and many friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Cecil and Marjean Knieff; son, Lance Knieff; maternal and paternal grandparents; and three brothers-in-law.
