Wood Lake: Bruce Owen Torke, age 54, of rural Wood Lake, passed away at the Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Funeral Services will be 1:30 PM Monday, May 21st at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls. Burial will be in the East Yellow Medicine Cementery. Visitation will be at 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 6:00 PM prayer service Sunday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Bruce Owen was born on April 14, 1958 in Clarkfield, MN to Otis & Bernice (Hempel) Torke. He was baptized at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls and graduated from the Cottonwood High School in 1976. On September 6, 1980, Bruce was united in marriage to Sandra Stensrud at St Lucas Lutheran Church. He worked for the Swift Hatchery, Victor Fluid Power, Norcraft and was presently employed by Granite Fluid Power in Granite Falls. His love was his family and doing things with them, especially his son Justin. His other enjoyments were weekend getaway’s, helping relatives and friends with farming , anything to do with being outdoors including 4-wheeling and snowmobiling and his two cats Tiger & Bubba. Bruce passed away at the Rochester Methodist Hospital on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. He had reached the age of 54 years, 1 month and 2 days. He is survived by his wife, Sandy of Wood Lake; son Justin of Wood Lake; his parents Otis and Bernice of Marshall; five siblings, Orlen (Sande) of Hanley Falls, Orrvin (LaVonne) of Granite Falls, Larry (Kathy) of Hanley Falls, Wes (Ann) of Ruthton and Christy (Brad) Beebout of Cottonwood; mother-in-law, Ruth Stensrud of Cottonwood; sister-in-law Susan Ackerman of Atwater; brother-in-law’s, Steve (MaryJean) Stensrud of Cottonwood and Stan (Conni) Stensrud of Marshall; also many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by father-in-law, Vernon Stensrud; brother-in-law, Joe Ackerman; sister-in-law, Sherry Torke; two nephews and a niece along with many aunts & uncles. Bruce was a faithful member of the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church at the time of his death. Blessed be the memory of Bruce O. Torke.
