Burene Alameda, age 89, of Marshall, passed away at the Morningside Heights Care Center on Tuesday, May 26, 2009. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the family plot in McCook, Nebraska. The Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall is handling the arrangements.
Bea, as many called her, was born in Red Willow County, McCook, Nebraska to Charles G. and Maude C. (Granger) Campbell on February 16, 1920. She was baptized in the Methodist Faith.
She was married to Harold L. Hickerson on October 10, 1938 and they had 3 children. They moved to Oakland, California in 1942 where Harold worked in the shipyards for some years and later for Honeywell Company. She was a homemaker until her husbands death in 1958. Burene worked at Standard Brands in Oakland until her retirement in 1978. She remarried in 1964 and divorced in 1967.
Burene passed away on May 26, 2009 at the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 10 days.
She is survived by her son, Larry (and Sherri) Hickerson; daughters, Lynne Richards and Janet (and Mack) Moore; neice, Judith (Johnson) Castleman; three grandchildren, Scott Hickerson, Christine Campbell, and Dawn Woodmancy; four great-grandchildren, Kiyra, Chayna, Jenna, and Riley all of whom reside in California and her nephew’s wife, LoAnn Campbell; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, brother, and one niece and one nephew.
