C. Dwayne Boerner

Marshall: C. Dwayne Boerner, age 83 of Marshall, passed away at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall, on Tuesday July 10, 2012. Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Sunday, July 15th at First English Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, MN. Visitation will be Saturday July 14th from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service at Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue at the church on Sunday one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 113. Cecil Dwayne was born on April 17, 1929 in Vallers Township to Earl and Mamie (Bonam) Boerner. He was baptized at the Methodist Church in Marshall and later confirmed at the English Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. He graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1947. After graduating 1947, Dwayne joined the National Guard attaining the rank of Major and was honorably discharged in 1989. On May 31, 1953, Dwayne was united in marriage to Eunice Bahn at English Lutheran Church. To this union two children were born, Curtis and Jill. They made their home in Marshall, where he was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1986. The love of Dwayne’s life was spending time with his family and friends. His other enjoyments included golfing, bowling, fishing, bingo, playing cards and gardening. Dwayne passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center. He had reached the age of 83 years 2 months and 23 days. Dwayne is survived by his wife, Eunice of Marshall; two children, Curtis Boerner and Jill (David) Person, both of Marshall; two grandsons, Derek Boerner of Richfield and Daniel Person of Russell; three siblings Jack (Dorothy) Boerner of Inver Grove Heights, Melvin (Margie) Boerner of Albertville, Bonnie Richter of Henning; two-in-laws, Sharon Boerner of Maple Grove and Dean Freer of Inver Grove Heights; also many cousins, nieces and nephews. Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law David Person; siblings and in-laws; Inez (Odin) Broughton, Dorothy (Louie) Severson, Donald (Gwen) Boerner, Darrell Richter, Wanda Freer, Bud Boerner, Llewellyn and Luonna Bahn; infant siblings Earl Jr. and Winona; and two nephews, Jeff and Doug Boerner. Dwayne was a faithful member of English Lutheran Church at the time of his death. He was also a member of American Legion Post #113 Honor Guard and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
