Carol Anne Mether

Carol Mether, age 76, of Marshall, formerly of Ivanhoe, Minnesota, died on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Memorial Services are 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Heritage Pointe Senior Living's Community Room in Marshall.  Following the service, a reception for attendees will be held also at Heritage Pointe. In lieu of flowers, please direct monetary donations to Carol's family for use at a future date. Thank you.

Carol Anne Barsch was born in Denver, Colorado, on July 2, 1947, to William and Mae (Johnson) Barsch. During her formative years, she, her parents, and her brother moved around a lot due to her father's job. As a child, Carol was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1965, Carol graduated high school. Shortly after, she continued her education in Maryland, where she received her degree in nursing.

Due to a back injury, Carol needed to make the decision to step down from nursing. From there, she began working in the Insurance industry where she trained individuals on computer programs. This career took her all over the United States, from Denver, Colorado all the way to Atlanta, Georgia. When her father became ill, Carol moved back to Denver and cared for both him and her mom until their peaceful passings.

It was in a choir group in Denver that Carol met Mr. Robert "Bob" Mether. The couple was united in marriage on September 22, 2001, at the King of Glory Lutheran Church in Arvada, Colorado. The couple moved around a few times before moving to Ivanhoe, Minnesota. It was there that they made their home and built their support system for 15 years. When the level of care they needed increased, Carol and Bob moved to Heritage Pointe Senior Living. While leaving their home and support system was an adjustment. They quickly found their community within the Assisted Living facility. After a fall and a lengthy hospital stay, Carol was moved to the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center where she died peacefully.

Carol was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Canby, and her faith in Jesus was very evident by her servant heart and caring nature. She loved music, singing, and coloring. However, her top priority was always her beloved husband, Bob.

Carol Anne Mether died peacefully with her husband by her side on Sunday, May 5, 2024.  She had reached the age of 76 years, 10 months, and 3 days. Blessed be her memory.

She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Bob Mether of Marshall; step-children, Jodi (and Lou) Georgiana of Shelton, NE, Michael "Mike" (and Colleen) Mether of Osceola, WI; 7 grandchildren, Victoria Georgiana, Benjamin (and Joleen) Georgiana, Cathrine Georgiana, Samantha (and Nicholas) Miller, Katelyn (and Blake) Erickson, Kaleb Mether (and Lexi Dirkes), Karley (and Howard) Miller; 5 great-grandchildren, Rosa Georgiana, Lilly Anne Georgiana, Daniel Georgiana, Keegan Erickson, Easton Erickson; brother, Lon (and Vickie) Barsch of Miami, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Carol was preceded in death by parents, William and Mae Barsch, numerous aunts, and uncles.
