Garvin: Charles F. Saxton, age 92, formerly of Garvin passed away at the Minneota Manor Care Center on Thursday, February 7, 2013. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 11th at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 113. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery.
Charles Franklin was born on February 18, 1920 in Somers, Iowa to Fred Charles and Mamie Mae (Roberts) Saxton. He attended school in Garvin and October 17, 1941 entered the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge on June 1, 1953.
Following his discharge he did various jobs and was a roofer for Pearcy Construction. He retired in 1982. His enjoyments in life were fishing, watching the Minnesota Vikings and walking his dogs.
Charles passed away at the Minneota Manor on Thursday, February 7, 2013. He had reached the age of 92 years, 11 months and 17 days.
He is survived by the Newton family, many nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother.
