Charlotte Marie Alberto

Charlotte Alberto, age 64, of Cottonwood, Minnesota, died on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral Services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Interment will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2022, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. The evening will conclude with a Prayer Service and Memory Share at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will then continue one hour prior to the service, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., on Saturday at the Hamilton Funeral Home.

Charlotte Marie Barck was born on November 21, 1957, in Marshall, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Harlan and Lois (Jensen) Barck. Charlotte grew up in Marshall and she was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. She graduated from Marshall High School with the class of 1976 and soon thereafter began her family. Some years later she went onto Granite Falls and received an accounting degree from the vo-tech college there.

Charlotte worked for many years at REM and HSI as an in-home care specialist and home health aide. She also served for many years at Mike’s Café to support her growing family and Charlotte lived for a few years with family in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. On April 30, 1991, Charlotte was united in marriage to Gregorio “Goyo” Alberto-Martinez and the couple made their home in Sioux Falls for six years before moving to Cottonwood, Minnesota.

Charlotte had a deep impact on many of her clients as she enjoyed caring for others at work. She was constantly looking for ways to help other people and opened her home to those in need. Charlotte assisted with immigration paperwork and helped new arrivals answer questions as she was bilingual and happy to assist those who did not have English as a primary language. Charlotte also loved to host meals and cook for guests; she had a talent for creating something out of what seemed like nothing. Her other enjoyments in life included caring for rescue animals, playing cards and bingo, watching the Minnesota Vikings, and she dabbled in softball and bowling in her earlier years.

Charlotte Alberto died in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on May 22nd, 2022. She had reached the age of 64 years, 6 months, and 1 day. Blessed be her memory.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Goyo Alberto-Martinez of Cottonwood; 3 children, Jeremy (and Kim) Barck of Marshall, Joshua (and Amber) Navarrete of Andover, Isaiah Navarrete (and Jessica Gilbertson) of Ghent; father, Harlan (and Dorothy) Barck of Marshall; grandchildren, Genesis Vichec, Ellie Navarrete, Oliver Navarrete, Truthton Fales, Johnny Fales, Jacob Warren, Jeremy Warren, Debora Vilchez, Daniel Vilchez, Mia Avila, Joyce Avila, Isaac Coleptor; adopted family, Fatima Vilchez, Anna Avila, Jimmy Vilchez, Maria Vilchez; 3 sisters, Karen Barck of Marshall, Jeanine (and Marlin) Satre of Boyd, Laurie (and Steven Laleman) of Minneota; 3 dogs, Maya, Lily, Sophie; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Barck, and a nephew, Brandon Satre.
