Chester "Mike" Krause

Marshall: Chester "Mike" Krause, age 89, of Marshall, formerly of Sacred Heart, passed away at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center on Thursday, May 19, 2011. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 23rd at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Marshall. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M Sunday with a 7:30 P.M. prayer service at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the service.
Chester "Mike" was born to Albert and Emma (Reynolds) Krause on January 30, 1922 in Vesta Township, Redwood County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and attended rural school near his parents homestead. Mike was united in marriage on September 28, 1946 to Ann Lalim. They farmed near Cottonwood until 1948. In 1949 they moved to Sacred Heart. Ann passed away in 1978. In 1979, Mike was united in marriage to Lorene Mahon. He lived in Scared Heart until they moved to Lake Shetek in 1983. Lorene passed away in 1994. On May 15, 1996, Mike was united in marriage to Emilie (Kudrna) Vokoun. They lived at Lake Shetek until moving to Marshall in 2004.
Mike passed away at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center on Thursday, May 19, 2011. He had reached the age of 89 years, 3 months and 20 days.
He is survived by his wife, Emilie of Marshall; five stepchildren, Dick, Dale, Bob, Pat and Tammy Mahon; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Everette, Wayne, Virgil and Floyd; three sisters, Della Bittner, Lois Reynolds and Allene Kremin; and two step children, Jerry and Laurie Mahon.
Mike's enjoyments in life were dancing (Old Tyme and Square), traveling (wintering in Texas for 20 years), fishing, doing carpentry work and farming.
He is a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart and was attending St. Stephen Lutheran Church at the time of his death.
Mike was an extra special guy that was kind and gentle with a good sense of humor.
