Curtis Lee Miller

Curtis Miller, age 72, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Monday, March 9, 2020, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall. Memorial Gathering of Family and Friends celebrating Curt’s life will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2020, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Private Interment took place in the Ruthton City Cemetery.

Curtis Lee Miller was born June 29, 1947, in Hendricks, Minnesota, to John Henry and Lenore “Ruby” (Christiansen) Miller. He was baptized at Singsaas Lutheran Church in Hendricks and was later confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton. After graduating from high school, Curt served in the United States Army during Vietnam from 1966 – 1969, where he was stationed in both Vietnam and Germany. After his honorable discharge, Curt returned home to Minnesota. While Curt was attending Barber School, he met his future wife.

On October 17, 1970, Curt was united in marriage to Norma and the couple made their home in Ruthton, Ivanhoe, and then Marshall. They shared nearly 50 years of marriage together and raised 3 girls, Shannon, Nicole, and Danielle.

Curt began by farming and milking before moving into trucking. He worked for 18 years hauling grain and another 18 years driving for Eickhoff Enterprises in Marshall. He also worked with trucks at SPEI in Marshall before his retirement in 2018. He was a member of the Ivanhoe VFW and member at the former Albright United Methodist Church in Marshall. His enjoyments in life included spending time with his family, fishing, gardening, deer hunting, playing cards, tinkering on vehicles and telling a good joke.

Curtis Miller died on March 9, 2020, in Marshall, Minnesota, at the age of 72 years, 8 months, and 9 days. Blessed be his memory.

Curt is survived by his wife, Norma Miller of Marshall; daughters, Shannon (Jim) Jacob of Marshall, Nicole (Al) Barber of Tyler, Danielle (Chris) Johnson of Oak Grove; grandchildren, Alexis Johnson of Oak Grove, Caden Barber of Tyler; brothers, Jack Miller of Tracy, Gary Miller of Ruthton; sister-in-law, Joyce Miller of Lake Benton; brother-in-law, Clarence Lamp of Slayton; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruby Miller; granddaughter, Shelby Stevens; sisters, Beverly Miller, Marilyn Lamp; brothers, Terry Miller, Dennis Miller, and sisters-in-law, Shirley Miller and Jean Miller.
