Deanna "Cookie" Faye Buchert

Russell: Deanna F. Buchert, age 68, of Russell, passed away at the Evansville Care Campus on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 31st at the Grace First Parish in Russell. Burial will be in the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to the time of the service on Sunday.
Deanna “Cookie” Faye was born November 9, 1942 to Melvin and Ethel (Palmer) Smedsrud in Tyler, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Opdahl Lutheran church in Florence. She was raised near Russell and attended Tyler High School.
On December 24, 1959 she was married to Charles Snook and their son Craig was born. She married Lyndon Buchert in 1968 and to this union their son Cory was born. She worked at various places and was a homemaker in Russell. Her enjoyments in life were gardening, flowers, being outside in nature, camping, bonfires, dancing, visiting, rummage sales, and going to casinos.
Lyndon passed away in January of 1999 and Cookie joined him in death on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the Evansville Care Campus in Evansville, Minnesota. She had reached the age of 68 years, 8 months and 17 days.
Cookie is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Craig (and Nancy) Snook of Evansville, and Cory Buchert of Russell; two siblings, Phyllis Smedsrud of Sioux Falls, SD and Stanley (and Lorraine) Smedsrud of Fargo, ND; sister-in-law, Arlene Smedsrud of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyndon; grandson, Jared Snook; three brothers, Warren, Wally and Nile; three sisters, Muriel, Donis and Janet; and special friend, Wayne Hauger.
Cookie was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and was now a member of the Grace First Parish at the time of her death.
