Donald Eugene Schultz was born January 17, 1931, in Grandview Township, near Ghent, Minnesota. He was the son of Floyd and Ella (Geske) Schultz. Don grew up on the family farm and was baptized and confirmed at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall. He attended Marshall Public Schools graduating with the class of 1948. After graduation, Don spent two years at college in Brookings, South Dakota.
On May 20, 1951, Don was united in marriage to Dora Willard at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall. They made their home in Lynd and then South of Marshall on the family farm. Don worked for some years doing carpentry before beginning his farming endeavor in 1960.
Don was a life-time member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall, where he always showed up early. Don served in various roles there including church council, youth leader, and elder. He was active outside and enjoyed hunting and fishing while not working on the farm. He survived many near mishaps over the years which allowed him to play softball into his 60s and volleyball into his 70s. Don enjoyed umpiring those sports and sitting down for a game of cards where he taught his children how to properly bid. He often said, “You have to bid to win. You cannot win going out the back door.”
Donald Schultz joined Dora in their Heavenly home on January 15, 2022, just two days shy of his 91st birthday. Blessed be his memory.
