Donald Thooft

Russell: Donald A. Thooft, age 52, of Russell, died on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Grace First Parish in Russell. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be Tuesday, at the Hamilton Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Donald Aloysius Thooft was born to Andrew and Helen (Coens) Thooft on April 7, 1955 in Tyler. He was baptized, received first communion and confirmed in Ghent at St. Eloi Catholic Church. He graduated from Russell in 1973.
On June 19, 1976 he was united in marriage to LaDonna Puhrmann in Paullina, Iowa. After his marriage, the couple resided in Russell and he was currently employed by Olson & Johnson International as a parts man.
Don passed away at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center on Sunday, May 20, 2007. He had reached the age of 52 years, 1 month and 13 days.
He is survived by his wife, LaDonna, of Russell; three sons, Nathan, of Boston, Massachusetts, Dustin (and special friend, Amberlee Gravely) and Aaron, both of Russell; brother, Arnie (and Calla) of Arco; two sisters, Patti (and Bruce) Welvaert, of Ghent and Bernice (and Darrell) Oerter, of Arco; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Helen.
Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing, golfing and playing cards.
He was an active member of the Russell Lion’s Club.
