Dorothy Minnick, age 92, of Cottonwood and formerly of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at the Minneota Manor Care Center. Funeral Services are 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2018, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Interment will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, at the Hamilton Funeral Home.
Dorothy Jean Petersen was born on May 17, 1926, on her grandparent’s farm in Belgrade, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Jack and Ruth (Bennett) Petersen. Dorothy attended grade school and high school in Slayton, Minnesota, before going to Mankato Commercial College.
On September 20, 1947, Dorothy was united in marriage to Duane Minnick in Marshall and the couple had one son, David. She was a loving homemaker and devoted mother. Her enjoyments included time spent with family and friends, gardening, camping, watching and feeding birds, and playing the piano and accordion. She was a faithful woman and truly lived for her Lord.
In 2012, Dorothy moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Cottonwood and had just recently transitioned to The Minneota Manor Care Center.
Dorothy is survived by her son, David Minnick of Cottonwood; grandson, Matt Minnick; foster son, Bill Wendt; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ruth; husband, Duane; and other extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
