Edith Paul, age 96 of Tracy, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the Prairie View Health Care Center in Tracy, Minnesota. Memorial Services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Following a reception, interment will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Friday at the Hamilton Funeral Home.

Edith Maude Garrow was born October 16, 1920 in Lake Marshall Township, Minnesota. Edith was the oldest of 13 children born to Wilfred and Della (Lee) Garrow. She was baptized as in infant in 1920, received first communion on July 3, 1934 at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler, and was confirmed on May 27, 1937 in Ivanhoe. Edith attended country school in Canby and then Lake Benton through the 8th grade. She went on to work for several local families.
On April 28, 1939, Edith was united in marriage to Woodrow Paul at the justice of the peace in Lake Benton. The couple made their home in Marshall and raised 6 children: Phyllis, Joan, Kathy, Barbara, David, and Betty. Woody passed away in August of 1979 and Edith stayed in Marshall until 1994, when she moved to Tracy. Edith worked at Swift and Company for 25 years, retiring at age 55. She was then able to be a full time loving grandma.
Edith was a longtime member of the ladies’ aide at the Assembly of God Church in Marshall where she attended services. She was a member of the Alliance Church in Tracy. Her other enjoyments in life included playing cards, sewing, quilting, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, gardening, remodeling their home, and making cookies and homemade bread.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Edith moved to Prairieview Nursing Home in Tracy. She died there on July 5, 2017, at the age of 96 years, 8 months, and 20 days. Blessed be her memory.
Edith is survived by her five children, Joan Deslauriers of Tracy, Kathy Coudron of Renville, Barbara Dirckx of Clarkfield, David (Rita) Paul of St. James, Betty (Neil) Sabin of Montevideo; 15 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 16 step-great grandchildren; 21 great-great grandchildren; 4 siblings, Charlotte (Don) Knidt of Lake Poinsett, SD, Cecelia Sanow of Marshall, Gladys (Don) Mead of Sioux Falls, SD, Blanche (Lawrence) Filter of Marshall; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred and Della Garrow; husband, Woody Paul; daughter, Phyllis Lorentson; 4 sons-in-law, Jerry Lorentson, Bill Dirckx, Ralph Deslauriers, Donnie Coudron; 3 grandsons, Rick, Curt, Marty; 3 great-grandsons, Alonso, Jesse, Hunter; step-great-grandson, Brandon; 6 sisters; 1 brother; and 2 step-sisters.
