Marshall: Edward Bethune, age 75, of Marshall, passed away at the Veterans Home in Luverne on Sunday, August 14, 2011. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 19th at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Arlington National Cemetery.
Edward Carroll was born on September 14, 1933 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Hazel Shores. He was baptized, confirmed and received First Communion in the Catholic faith. He Joined the United States Army on June 8, 1953 and served as an Honor Guard at the Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier. He was honorably discharged on July 2, 1954.
On July 6, 2001, Ed was united in marriage to Gail Davis in Sioux Falls. He worked at various jobs and retired a few years ago due to ill health. His enjoyments included visiting about his army days, watching and collecting movies and coin collecting.
Ed passed away at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne on Sunday, August 14, 2011. He had reached the age of 75 years and 11 months.
He is survived by his wife, Gail of Luverne; two sons, Michael of Newport and Donald Milroy; two sister-in-laws, Pam Bartlett and Joanne Oglesby of Marshall; three brother-in-laws, Gary of Marshall, Bob of Blaine and Jim Davis of Marshall; also many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ed was a member of the Patriot Guard at the time of his death.
