Elaine M. Buchert, age 84, of Russell passed away at Morningside Heights Care Center on Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at the Grace First Parish in Russell. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM with a 7:30 prayer service on Saturday, May 24, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in the Russell City Cemetery. Elaine Myrtle Lee was born to Ingvald and Florence (Larson) Lee on July 1, 1923 in Lyons Township, Minnesota. She was baptized at Opdahl Norwegian Lutheran Church in Florence and was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Russell and was the last living charter member of the church. She attended District 93 country school and graduated from Russell High School in 1941. On April 17, 1946, Elaine was united in marriage to Oscar Buchert at First English Lutheran church in Tyler. She worked for a couple local restaurants after they retired from farming in 1975.
Elaine was a member of the Goodwill Club, Ruth Circle, American Legion Auxiliary, and several coffee clubs. She loved a good book, conversation and a cup of coffee. She leaves us with lots of memories of her great sense of humor. Her grandchildren have many stories to tell about the fun times spent with grandma.
Elaine died on Tuesday, May 20, at the age of 84 years, 10 months, and 19 days. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She is survived by her children, Marlan (Lennita) Buchert of Russell, Gary (Colleen) Buchert of Balaton, Sonya (Steve) Bush of Russell, Laurie (Cody Rufer) Buchert of Brookings, SD, daughter-in law Deanna Buchert of Russell; grandchildren, Cory Buchert, Shannon (Heidi) Buchert, Chad Buchert, Shawn (Laura) Buchert, Dustin Buchert, Colby Buchert, Stacy (David) Erdmann, Scott Bush, and Shelby Bush; great-grandchildren, Paige Buchert, Carter Buchert, Halle Buchert, and Ashlyn Erdmann; sister, Marlys Lund of Cottonwood; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar in 1996; and son, Lyndon in 1999.
Elaine was a faithful member of the Grace First Parish at the time of her death.
