Evelyn Buckholtz, Age 93, of Marshall, died on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Colonial Manor Care Center in Balaton. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 AM Saturday, November 15, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Marshall. Burial will be in the Marshall City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7:30 PM on Friday, November 14, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday, at the church.
Evelyn May Hubin was born on November 1, 1915 in Westbrook, Minnesota to Henry and Anna (Haugness) Hubin. After high school, she graduated from Mankato State Teaching College.
On December 16, 1939, Evelyn married Herbert Buckholtz in the Medo Baptist Chruch. She taught in one-room schools in Mankato for many years before moving to Ruthton. She was also a long time farmer's housewife. Evelyn was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. Most recently she had been attending the First Baptist Chruch in Marshall. Her enjoyments in life included knitting, crocheting, gardening, reading, and spending time praying for and visiting with family and friends.
Evelyn is survived by her five children, Lynda (and David) Larson, Dwight (and Joan) Buckholtz, Janice (and David) Day, Dawn Buckholtz, and Darla Buckholtz; 12 grandchildren, Jonathan Larson, Joel Larson, Scott Buckholtz, Lisa Leyda, Peter Buckholtz, David Day Jr., Becky Wilbur, Debbie Carlson, Dan Day, Tim Day, Chris Peltier, and Jenny Soderlund and sister, Doris Swanson. Evelyn doted on her 20 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; brother; and sisters.
