Florence Johnson, age 83, of Marshall, died Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the Avera Marshall Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM on Monday, December 31, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Marshall. Private burial will be in the Russell City Cemetery.
Florence Louise Smith was born January 25, 1924 in Porter, Minnesota to Bernard and Beulah (Larson) Smith. She was baptized at the Baptist Church in Tyler. Florence lived in Porter, Lake Benton, Russell, and then Marshall. After graduating from High School, Florence attended Northwestern College for 4 years.
Florence was united in marriage to Clarence Pahnisch in Jeffers, Minnesota in 1953, and they lived in Russell. Clarence passed away in 1960. She then married Harold Johnson in Paynesville, Minnesota in 1993, and they lived in Marshall. Harold passed away in 2004.
Florence retired in 1985 after many years as a house wife. She also did housekeeping at Colonial Manor in Balaton and was a cook at Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall.
Her enjoyments in life included gardening, needlework, baking Belgium cookies, reading, word puzzles, walking, donating blood, participating in church, her grandchildren, and spending time with family and friends.
Florence is survived by her children, Tom (and Mary) Pahnisch of Sioux Falls, SD, Twyla Sathre of Sioux Falls, SD, Connie (and Jim) Knowlton of Africa, and Royal Pahnisch of Mankato; step-children, Lois (and Stan Tomsic) Bryant of Riverside, CA, Sharon McCully of Marshall, Melva (and Gary) Wall of Hillsboro, OR, Pamela (and Lee) Bush of Russell, and Robert (and Patsy) Johnson of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Sam, and Tim Pahnisch, Travis Sathre and Maggie Thompson, Caleb and Philip Knowlton, Scott, Rachael, and Eric Pahnisch, Susan and Janet Bush, James & Rebecca Johnson, Kevin and Kent Bauman, Denise Rekedahl, Craig Sample, and Lisa Davidson.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence; second husband, Harold Johnson; parents; 8 siblings; 2 step-daughters; and a granddaughter, Cara Pahnisch.
