Marshall: George A. Drury, age 89, of rural Marshall, passed away at the Minneota Manor on Sunday, December 20, 2009. Private services are planned for a later date. Hamilton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
George Albert Drury was born to Edwin and Bertha (Weidauer) Drury on December 3, 1920 in Stanley Township, Lyon County, Minnesota. George grew up with his family on the Herring farm in Stanley Township. In 1949 he along with his family moved to a farm in Clifton Township, which he eventually purchased.
He enjoyed his farm life with the cattle, and loved his dogs and cats. He had his pilot’s license and was in the Civil Air Patrol in the forties. He loved flying and in his later years when he did not have a license, he would rent a plane and have the pilot fly him all around the farming area. After he retired, he still remained on the farm until he had to go into Minneota Manor on November 11, 2009.
George passed away at the Minneota Manor on Sunday, December 20, 2009. He had reached the age of 89 years and 18 days.
He is survived by his three siblings, Edwin (Rose) Drury, Marian (Bob) Lindsay and Karen (Dennis) Rafson all of Marshall; five nephews and one niece, Doug, Arlyn, Kevin, and Craig Lindsay, David Rafson and Kristin Blomme; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Grace.
Blessed be the memory of George A. Drury
