Haleene Miriam Klatt, age 94, of Lynd, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Memorial services 10:30 AM Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshall, Minnesota. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth. Visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 AM, 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Haleene Miriam Klatt was born on March 5, 1920, at home in Blue Earth, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Harry and Minnie (Reko) Schuler. She was baptized at home as an infant and was confirmed in her youth in Faribault, Minnesota. Haleene attended school in Faribault and then graduated from the Blue Earth High School in 1938. After that she worked for JC Penny.

On August 16, 1943, Haleene was united in marriage to Gerald Klatt at the Methodist Church in Blue Earth. The couple made their home in Blue Earth and Waldorf, before Gerald enlisted in WWII. While deployed, Haleene and Gerald lived in Miami, FL, Iowa, and New Mexico. They returned to Blue Earth and lived there until, in 1963, they moved to Algona, Iowa. In 1967, the couple lived in Storden, in 1971 a brief time in Marshall, and have lived in Lynd since 1973. In addition to working several jobs, Haleene was a loving mother to children, Karen and Carl. She spent over 20 years in assembly at BH Electronics in Marshall, helped in the Lynd preschool, and worked as a hospital cook.

Haleene was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshall, once active in the LWML. Her enjoyments in life included sewing, knitting, reading, sitting on her deck and enjoying the outdoors, watching wildlife – especially deer and birds. She tended her gardens well into her 80s.

Haleene died Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. At the age of 94 years, 9 months and 12 days.

Haleene is survived by her children, Karen Klatt of Lynd, Carl (Judy) Klatt of Lynd; grandchildren, Gina (Milton) Hoss of Camp Lejeune, NC, Jesse (Brandy) Klatt of Marshall, MN; great-grandchildren, Sierra and Madison Hoss; sisters, Fern Lemaster of Jefferson City, MO, Yvonne (Bernard) Keeler of Fort Dodge, IA, Jean (Larry) Braby of Pocahontas, IA, Harriet Wade of Homestead, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Haleene is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Klatt; parents, Harry and Minnie Schuler; son, Kenneth Klatt; and sister, Elaine Hasse.
