Ida M. Johnson

Cottonwood: Ida M. Johnson, age 92, of Cottonwood, passed away at the Viewcrest Care Center in Duluth on Sunday, May 9, 2010. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Cottonwood. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Ida Marie Oftedahl, the daughter of Marcelius and Rachel (Jensen) Oftedahl was born on November 15, 1917 at Astoria, South Dakota. On November 12, 1938 she was married to Arnold Johnson in Astoria, South Dakota. After their marriage they lived in Astoria, before moving to Cottonwood, MN. Ida was a bookkeeper for many years at Smith’s Inc. and later at Johnson Leasing.
Ida enjoyed bowling and needlework and was an excellent cook and baker. She especially liked making krumkake and brought them to many people for special occasions.
Ida is survived by her daughter, LaVonne (David) Tucci of Duluth; grandchildren, Theresa (Travis) Williams, Tony (Carla) Tucci, Nic Tucci, Pat (Lisa) Tucci and Mike (Kelly) Tucci; great-grandchildren, Lianne Brown, Cortney and Derek Tucci, Tygen and Lorelei Tucci, Deanna Hernandez and Lake Tucci; and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her foster parents, Osmond and Lisa Forgard, her husband, Arnold; sisters Mildred Thomas and Olive Rewerts, and brother, Johnny Oftedahl.
