Marshall: Irene Vercruysse, age 95, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 17th at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 4:00 P.M. Rosary and 7:00 P.M. prayer service Wednesday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Irene Frances was born on May 1, 1917 in Clifton Township , Lyon County , Minnesota to parents Edward Peter and Elsie (Rankin) Loke. On September 30, 1936 Irene was married to Harold Israel Williams. Harold passed away in 1964. On December 5, 1967, she married Bill Christians. A few years after Bill’s death in 1968, Irene was married to George Vercruysse on Jan.9, 1971. Irene was self employed as a professional house cleaner and also worked for Carrow’s Formal Wear. In her later years Irene cleaned at the Lynd Elementary School and also helped in the kitchen. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved making Sunday dinner for her family. She enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards and embroidered numerous pillow cases and dish towels. Irene entered Avera Morningside Heights Care Center where she was known as “Reney” by her caregivers there. She loved participating in the many activities, especially Bingo. On Sunday, January 13, 2013, Irene passed away at the age of 95 years, 8 months and 12 days. She is survived by four children, Marge (Merlin) Cadwell of Clara City, Arnie Williams of Marshall, Allen Williams of Rixeyville, VA and Dianne Karlstad (fiancé, Harold Hess) of Lynd: 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; sister, Darlene Wilson of Marshall; two brother-in-laws, Robert “Buck” Fischer and Paul Inden; also many other relatives and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; 3 husbands; 12 children, Merlyn, Darrell, Marlene, Charlotte, Beverly, Harold Elmer, Darwin, Lloyd, Carroll, Donavon, Mary Kathryn “Katie” and Keith Williams; grandson, baby boy Pope; and three sisters, Evelyn Binnebose, Maxine Inden and Teresa Fischer.
