Janet Mary Buysse was born on March 30, 1933, to parents Henry and Jessie Harbo Buysse in the family home in Lyon County. She was baptized and confirmed at Silo Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, Minnesota. She graduated from Cottonwood High School with the class of 1951.
On May 16, 1953, Janet was united in marriage to Thomas Lindsay at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood (formerly Silo Lutheran). The couple made their home in Cottonwood where Janet worked for the Creamery Mutual Insurance Company. A year later they moved to Marshall and she worked at the ASC office for five years before moving to Schwan’s where she was employed in the banking department for over 24 years prior to her retirement in 1995.
Tom and Janet later built a cabin on Moon Lake near Brandon, Minnesota. Tom enjoyed fishing and Janet would read, do crossword puzzles, cook, bake, and spend time shopping in nearby Alexandria. Her family was a priority, and all holidays were spent at her house where she could serve a good meal and play games (especially bingo) with her grandchildren.
Tom and Janet were faithful members of Albright United Methodist Church (now Cornerstone United Methodist Church) and they were active there until Tom's illness. Janet kept up online when she was able. Following Thomas’ passing in 2005, Janet moved to the Hill Street Apartments and spent the last several years there where she enjoyed her time and developed many friendships.
