Janice Babcock, age 74, of St. Leo, Minnesota, died on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Avera Tyler Hospital. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2021, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Interment will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. A Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Occupancy limits and social distancing must be observed throughout all services. Masks are still required at all public indoor gatherings.
Janice Faye Mercie was born on June 22, 1946, to Gerard and Charlotte (Richter) Mercie in Marshall, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church and was a Marshall High School graduate. Janice then explored the world, living in Wyoming, Delaware, and Kentucky, before finally moving back to Marshall in 1989. Janice later moved to St. Leo, where she was currently residing.
Janice owned her own daycare for several years. She was also a cook at HyVee and the Marshall School system. Most recently, Janice enjoyed visiting with patrons as she was waitressing. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and enjoying a cup of coffee and a piece of pie with friends.
Janice Faye Babcock died on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Avera Tyler Hospital. She had reached the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 2 days. Blessed be her memory.
Janice is survived by her 4 sons, Marc Babcock of Marshall, Dan (Lynn) Babcock of Marshall, Ricky Babcock of St. Leo, Chad (Yvonne) Babcock of Georgetown, DE; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kathy (Bruce) Knieff of Marshall, Curt Mercie of Marshall; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerard and Charlotte Mercie; infant daughter, Melissa Babcock; brothers, Jeff Mercie and Ron Mercie.
