Jeannie Smith, age 75, of Marshall, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas while wintering in McAllen, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Interment will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. A CCW rosary will be at 4:00 PM and prayer service at 6:30 PM on Tuesday at the church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, on Wednesday at the church.

Georgena “Jeannie” Ann Landuyt was born on October 19, 1939, in Taunton, Minnesota. She was the daughter of George and Erma (Langsweirdt) Landuyt. Jeannie was baptized as an infant, confirmed in her youth, and received her first communion at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. She attended school in Lynd before graduating from Minneota High School in 1958.
On February 7, 1959 Jeannie was united in marriage to David Maeyaert in Minneota. The couple farmed by Marshall and was blessed with three children: Dean, Diane, and Dori. David passed away in July of 1973 and Jeannie continued to raise her young family while owning her own business, “Grandma’s Gifts.” On February 28, 1980, Jeannie married Gale Krog at the SMSU Chapel. They, too, lived in Marshall until Gale died in 2005. Jeannie was then married to Eddie Smith on June 22, 2007 and they lived in Marshall and enjoyed winters in McAllen, Texas.
In addition to being a loving homemaker and devoted mother, Jeannie loved her ceramics work. She loved her family and always put them first. Her other enjoyments in life included time spent at Lake Cochrane in South Dakota, camping, attending many events for her children and grandchildren, and spending time with the family she so dearly loved.
Jeannie Smith entered her heavenly home on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the age of 75 years, 3 months, and 10 days. Blessed be her memory.
Jeannie is survived by her husband, Eddie Smith of Marshall; 3 children, Dean (Connie) Maeyaert of Gary, SD, Diane Buesing of Marshall, Dori (Denny) Vandendriessche of Sanford, FL; 6 grandchildren, Heather (Tom) Syltie, Amber (Tim) Alger, Wes Buesing (Kayla Vlaminck), Ashley Maeyaert, Jake Vandendriessche, Jesse Vandendriessche; 4 great-grandchildren; 5 step-children, Debby (Tom) Bringmann, Ron (Marcy) Smith, Ken Smith, Laurae (Mike) Hively, Sherry Smith; 13 step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; Gale’s children, Cindy Krog, Lori (Earl) Skaar, Chad (Brenda) Krog; Gale’s 7 grandchildren; Gale’s 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry (Kandy) Landuyt, Gloria (Roger) VanOverbeke, Glad Henning, Gordy Landuyt, George (Kris) Landuyt, Gail (Tom) Boyum, Gwen (Dale II) Johnson; nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Jeannie is preceded in death by her parents, George and Erma Landuyt; first husband, David Maeyaert; second husband, Gale Krog; brother, Gary Landuyt; and son-in-law, Paul Buesing.
The family invites everyone to Carlin Hall following the interment for a luncheon.
