Jimie Wayne Lorenz, age 65, of Marshall, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015, at the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center. Funeral services are Monday, February 16, 2015, 1:00 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Interment will follow in the Marshall City Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from Noon – 1:00 PM, on Monday at the Hamilton Funeral Home.

Jimie Wayne Lorenz was born on September 6, 1949, in Tracy, Minnesota. He was the son of Howard V. and Gladys G. (Lewis) Lorenz. Jimie attended school in Tracy. On September 7, 1966, Jimie enlisted in the United States Army and was deployed during Vietnam. He received his honorable discharge September 5, 1969 and returned to Tracy. He learned the mechanic trade at Canby Vo-Tech and went on to own his own shop in Tracy. He would later go back to school and graduate from Southwest State University with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Art. Jimie worked for a group home in Marshall and ran a security business at the corn plant before driving truck.
On February 27, 1971, Jimie was married to Carol Paulson at her parents’ home in Marshall. The couple made their home in Southwest Minnesota until 1979 when they moved to Marshall where they have lived since. They were blessed with three children: Shannon, Tony, and Chad.
Jimie was a proud member of the Marshall American Legion and VFW. Above all else was his family. He loved to make others smile and cherished family vacations. His other enjoyments in life included fixing anything you could break, filling his garage with tools, camping, and finding any excuse to get on his motorcycle and ride.
Jimie Lorenz passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015 at the age of 65 years, 5 months and 7 days. Blessed be his memory.
Jimie is survived by his wife, Carol Lorenz of Marshall; children, Shannon (and Cory) VanDeVere of Balaton, Tony Lorenz (and Kirsten French) of Marshall, Chad Lorenz (and Nicole Covrig) of Brookings, SD; eight grandchildren, Megan (and Brandon) Zachman, Haley Lorenz, Chase VanDeVere, Tristan VanDeVere, Mikayla Lorenz, Ryder Lorenz, Ethan Covrig, Carrigan Covrig;
great-granddaughter, Cora Zachman; three brothers, Samie (and Ilene) of Moses Lake, WA,
Gary Lorenz of Hastings, Steve (and Karen) Lorenz of Hibbing; nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Jimie is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Gladys Lorenz; parents-in-law, Vernon and Thelma Paulson; sisters, Helen Lorenz and Cora Lorenz; sister-in-law, Beverly Lorenz; a niece and a nephew.
