Julie Ann Burckhardt, age 57, of Russell, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall. Memorial services are Tuesday, October 7, 2014, 6:00 P.M., at Grace First Parish in Russell, Minnesota, with interment following in the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on Tuesday, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M., at the church.

Julie Ann Burckhardt was born on April 9, 1957, in Marshall, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Alvin and Adeline (Morgan) Burckhardt. Julie was baptized and confirmed at Russell Presbyterian Church in Russell. She attended Russell Public Schools and graduated from Russell High School in 1975. She went on to Southwest State University for 2 years. She worked at Bayliner in Pipestone before managing the Russell Liquor Store for 32 years.
Julie was a life-long resident of Russell. She was a faithful member of the church and volunteered nearly everywhere. She lived to serve others and was always the first one there if someone needed her. Despite adjusting to chemotherapy since 1980, she found a way to always put others first and was a true source of light. Julie adored her nieces and nephews. She was also an avid Vikings fan, bird watcher and dog lover.
Julie died on Thursday, October 2, 2014, in Marshall, Minnesota at the age of 57 years, 5 months and 23 days.

Julie is survived by her 3 siblings, Bruce (Deb) Burckhardt of Brookings, SD, Keith (Diane) Burckhardt of Russell, MN, Mary Jo (Doug) Zimmer of Alexandria, MN; 7 nieces and nephews, Lance Burckhardt, Jon (Jennifer) Burckhardt, Chelsey (Brad) Hodges, Chadd (Melissa) Burckhardt, Tory Zimmer Stephanie Jensen, Reed Burckhardt; 7 great nieces and nephews, Cody Burckhardt, Michael Burckhardt, Lexy Jensen, Cortney Jensen, Kennedy Hodges, Beckett Hodges, Micah Zimmer-Abojei; other relatives and many friends.
Julie is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Adeline Burckhardt.
The family invites everyone to the church basement following the services for a cake and beverages.
