Marshall: Karen M. Marthaler, age 47, of Marshall, passed away in Marshall on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 1st at St. Mary’s Chapel in Marshall. Visitation will be 4 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service Thursday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the funeral home until 10:45 A.M. Friday. Karen Marie was born to Martin and Alice (Winters) Marthaler on April 24, 1964 in Marshall, Minnesota. She was baptized, received First communion and confirmed at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1983 and went on to graduated from Granite Falls Vocational Technical School. The love of her life was her family and doing things with and for them. Her other enjoyments in life were local sports and keeping track of the statistics, collecting cookbooks, cooking and watching the cooking channel, traveling and going on cruises, and working at the Independent Newspaper. Karen passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Wednesday, June 29th. She had reached the age of 47 years, 2 months and 5 days. She is survived by her parents Martin and Alice Marthaler of Marshall; five siblings, Arlene Marthaler of Minneota, Kenneth Marthaler of Key Largo, FL, Kevin Marthaler of Newport News. VA, Kathleen Marthaler of Annapolis, MA and Jolene (and Carl) Louwagie of Clarkfield; one godchild, Brent Louwagie; five nieces; five nephews; and one great nephew, Ryan.
