Ken Morris, age 86, of Balaton and formerly of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, died on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Avera Hospital in Tyler, Minnesota. Memorial Services are 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. A light reception will follow. Visitation will be held two hours prior to his celebration, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, also at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.
Kenneth Jay Morris was born on November 4, 1938, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. He was the son of C. E. and Ella (Dagner) Morris. Ken was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church. He grew up in Redwood Falls where he graduated with the high school class of 1956. He went on to serve his country overseas on the USS Luce for four years in the United States Navy.
On June 4, 1966, Ken was united in marriage to Sonja Halberg and the couple had three children. They made their home in Redwood Falls and divorced after 14 years together. Ken worked in the local greenhouse before finding work with the United States Postal Service. He started as a mail carrier and then worked his way up to a Postal Clerk before retiring after 30 years in service in October 1992.
Ken was a proud member of the Redwood Falls American Legion and VFW and he was proud to serve on the Ramsey Falls Park Board. His enjoyments in life included hunting, fishing, following any Minnesota sports team, cards and coffee with the guys in the morning, and going for a "big drive" to enjoy lakes and wildlife.
Ken died peacefully with family at his side on November 25, 2024, in Tyler, Minnesota. He had just turned 86 three weeks ago. Blessed be his memory.
He is survived by his children, Teri (Brad) Hively of Balaton, Scott (Jeri) Morris of Alexandria, Kim (Rob) Peterson of Walnut Grove; 9 grandchildren, Jordan (Brittanie) Hively, Jared (Jessica) Hively, Jacob (Amber) Hively, Justin (Brooke) Hively, Kenny Morris (Olivia DeBoer), Bria Morris, Samantha Lemburg (Tyler Laleman), Hank Peterson, Michael Peterson; great-grandchildren, Westen, Jayvin, Jaxon, Connor, Ann, Brielle, Hudson, Tatum, Jase, Tripp, Torrin; sister, Karen Morris of Willmar; other relatives and friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, C. E. and Ella Morris; grandson, Shawn Lemburg; and a brother, Charlie (Helen) Morris.
