Kenneth Delbert Olson, age 82, of Cottonwood, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016, at Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Marshall. Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Friday, January 29, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, January 28, 2016, also at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. A prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, on Friday again at the church.

Kenneth Delbert Olson was born on January 9, 1934, in Cottonwood, Minnesota. He was the son of Nuel and Myrtle (Reishus) Olson. Kenny was baptized, confirmed, and was a lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. He graduated from West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, Minnesota and then went on to serve with the United States Army in Germany during the late 1950s.

On January 22, 1961, Kenny was united in marriage to Lois Ruth Aanerud. The couple lived and farmed south of Cottonwood. They raised three children: Sally, Anita, and Jonathan. Kenny and Lois enjoyed 48 years of marriage together before Lois passed away in March of 2009.

Kenny was a life-long farmer and loved his work. In his younger days, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and car racing. Kenny was known for his compassion, generosity, gentle spirit, and sense of humor. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. During the 30 years that Lois lived with MS, Kenny was admired by his children, family, and friends for his loving care of her. Kenny truly had a servant heart.

Kenny Olson passed away in Marshall, Minnesota, on Friday, January 22, 2016, at the age of 82 years and 13 days. Blessed be his memory.

Kenny is survived by his children, Sally Hanson of Sioux Falls, SD, Anita (and Charles) Jackson, of Mongolia, Jonathan (and Carolyn) Olson of Cottonwood; grandchildren, Katrina (and Seth) Rumage, Luke Hanson, Philip Hanson, Anna (and Doug) Meyer, Christina Olson, Laura Olson; Lois’ siblings and their spouses; many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Kenny is preceded in death by wife, Lois; parents, Nuel and Myrtle Olson; siblings, Fern (and Marv) Merrill, Robert Olson; sister-in-law, Julie Aanerud; and grand-niece, Emilee Olson.
