Leon Bostic, age 75, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. Funeral Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2024, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Interment with military honors will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Then a reception for attendees will be held at the AmericInn Hotel in Marshall. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. The evening will conclude with a memory share at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will then resume one hour prior to his celebration, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the family for final expenses.
Leon Lloyd Bostic was born on December 23, 1948, in Watertown, South Dakota. He was the son of Floyd and Evelyn Hofman Bostic. Leon grew up in Pipestone, Minnesota, and graduated high school there before furthering his education at the local vocational college. Next, Leon honorably served in the United States Navy for a couple of years before returning back to Minnesota.
In June of 1981, Leon was united in marriage to Theresa Feryn at the courthouse in Marshall. The couple had a daughter, Anna, and spent eleven years together prior to their divorce in 1992, though Leon and Theresa later became friends after the separation.
Leon made his home primarily in Marshall and worked various odd jobs through the years but was best known for cleaning up ditches by collecting pop cans or selling truckloads of wood that he had cut. Leon's enjoyments in life included mowing, yard work, tending to his flowers, watching wildlife, and finding any excuse to go fishing.
Leon Bostic died on August 19, 2024, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He had reached the age of 75 years, 7 months, and 27 days. Blessed be his memory.
He is survived by his daughter, Anna Bostic (and Cliff Bahr) of Marshall; 6 grandchildren, Jaiden Bahr, Rayna (and Kalen Vait), Hailey Bahr (and Teddy Bjork), Sierra Bahr, Zayn Bahr, Ezra Bahr; great-granddaughter, Tatum Vait; 10 siblings, Sidney (and Barbara) Bostic, Lorraine DeJong, Bonnie (and Fred) Majeski, Dale (and Brenda) Bostic, Darwin (and Sue) Bostic, Kathy (and David) Cinkle, Joe (and Julie) Bostic, Joann Bostic (and Joseph Tischler, Rhonda (and Chuck) Reuwsaat, Robyn Sprecher; former wife, Theresa Bostic of Hanley Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Evelyn Bostic; a grandchild due to a miscarriage; infant brothers, Ricky and LeRoy; and brother-in-law, Stan DeJong.
