Lillian Larson, age 97, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Suite Living Assisted Living in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. Funeral Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2022, at First Lutheran Church in Marshall. Following a reception for attendees, interment will be in the Opdal Cemetery, Florence, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Monday, at the church.
Lillian Mae Miller was born May 29, 1924, in Russell, Minnesota, to parents William and Lucia (Merrick) Miller. She grew up in Russell and was baptized there in the Baptist Church. Lillian attended Russell schools and then nannied for local families.
On January 18, 1941, Lillian was united in marriage to Martin Larson at First Lutheran Church in Marshall. The couple farmed near Ruthton and Holland before moving to Marshall in 1966. Lillian was a dedicated homemaker for many years before she began working outside the home. She had a couple small jobs before she landed at Southwest Minnesota State University, in food service, where she enjoyed the students and her coworkers for nearly 20 years.
Lillian was a faithful member of her churches, active in many groups and circles, and was currently a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Marshall. She was a past member of the Royal Neighbors of America and 4-H leader. She had a gift for hospitality and her kind spirit showed as she cared for her children, often behind the wheel as she drove her seven children to their many events. Lillian also volunteered for Meals on Wheels with her husband prior to Martin’s death in 2000. Her other enjoyments included quilting, playing cards and dominoes, tending to her flower gardens, camping, and fishing.
Lillian Larson passed away on February 15, 2022, in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. She reached the age of 97 years, 8 months, and 17 days. Blessed be her memory.
She survived by her seven children, Sharon Larson of Plymouth, Lyall (and Judi) Larson of McHenry, IL, Curtis “Curt” (and Sandra) Larson of Hudson, WI, Carol Thomas (and Charles Jensen) of Sioux Falls, SD, Linda Larson (and Brian Rohrenbach) of Rosemount, Daniel Larson of Garvin, Allen (and Janice) Larson of Gaylord; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lucy Miller; husband, Martin Larson; three brothers; and one sister.
