Locky Leo Johnson was born to Burch and Donna (Galbraith) Johnson on June 19, 1955, in Tracy, Minnesota. As a child, Locky and his family lived in many areas, including rural Balaton, Garretson, South Dakota, Russell, and Minneota. In 1974, Locky graduated from the Minnesota Braille and Sight Saving School in Fairbault. After graduation, Locky moved to Marshall, where he spent the majority of his life. As a young man, he rode his bike everywhere! One would often find him biking the 11 miles from Marshall to Minneota in order to visit his parents, who would then bring him home by car.
In later years, Locky stuck to the Marshall area, but put a lot of miles on his scooter with his rescue dog, Jordan, at his side. They went everywhere! After Jordan passed away, Locky rescued another dog named Lady, who was just as eager to follow Locky around the community. These two dogs were great companions to Locky and provided him the same amount of happiness that he provided them.
Locky had an interest in all kinds of electronic devices and enjoyed movies and music. He owned numerous videos and CDs. With the loss of his sight, music was especially good in the final years of his life with older country music being his favorite. As he listened to his music, he enjoyed eating a big dish of ice cream! Any flavor would do, but Neapolitan was Locky’s favorite.
