Cottonwood: Lois J. Snyder, age 75, of Cottonwood, passed away at the Prairie Home Hospice House on Thursday, August 13, 2009. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 17, 2009 at Swan Lake Evangelical Free Church in Cottonwood. Burial will be in the Cottonwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a 6:00 P.M. prayer service Sunday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Condolences may be sent to www.hamiltonfh.com.
Lois Joanne Snyder was born to Joseph Rudolph and Julianna Carolina (Buhaug) Runholt on July 11, 1934 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. She was baptized into the Christian faith at Ulen, MN and confirmed at the English Lutheran Church in Cottonwood in 1950. She graduated from the Cottonwood High School in 1953. She worked for Northwest Bell Telephone Company (1953 & 1954). She attended the Lutheran Bible Institute (1954 & 1955). She also worked for Buloski Drug in Marshall. On March 3, 1957, Lois was united in marriage to William “Bill” Edmund Snyder at the Swan Lake Independent Church. To this union three children were born, namely; Randall Edmund, Rebecca Joanne and Michael Joseph. Lois passed away at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall on Thursday, August 13, 2009. She had reached the age of 75 years, 1 month and 2 days. She is survived by her husband, Bill of Cottonwood; three children, Randy (Vicki) Snyder of Eden Prairie, Becky (Steve) Witmer of Fairmont and Mike (Kari) Snyder of Lakeville; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Kelly, Johanna, Mackenzie, Jake, Jamie and Olivia; four brothers, David, Tom, Bob and Chuck; a sister, Grace also many other relatives and friends. Her enjoyments in life were telling everyone she met about her savior, RVing, camping, fishing, baseball, cooking and being a gracious hostess to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. In 1955 Lois came to know Jesus as Lord at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Moorhead. She was a faithful member of the Swan Lake Evangelical Free Church and also the Cottonwood American Legion Post Auxiliary.
