Russell: Lorraine E. Evans, age 85, of Russell, passed away at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall on Saturday, January 8, 2011. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 12, 2011 At the Grace First Parish in Russell. Burial will be in the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service Tuesday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service. Lorraine Emma Funk was born on September 1, 1925 in Lincoln County near Arco to Ida (Wellberg) and Edward Funk. She moved with her family at an early age to Florence, where she attended grade school and then Tyler High School and graduating in 1943. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On January 16, 1946 she was united in marriage to Delbert Evans at the First English Lutheran Church in Marshall. They lived in El Paso, Texas until Delbert was discharged from the Army. Lorraine and Delbert then relocated to Florence, and later Lynd. They farmed west of Lynd for 38 years. In 1988, they retired from farming and moved into Russell.
Lorraine’s pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Russell and also was a participating member of the Ruth Circle. Her memberships also included the West Side Club, Russell Get Together Club and Senior Citizens. Lorraine’s favorite pastimes were reading, crocheting, knitting and playing cards.
Lorraine passed away at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall on Saturday, January 8, 2011. She had reached the age of 85 years, 4 months and 7 days.
She is survived by her daughter Diane (and Jim) Fixen of Lynd; her sons, Dwaine (and Joyce) of Ivanhoe, Larry (and Deb) of Lynd, Loren (and Dawn) of Balaton, Kevin (and Cheryl) of Lynd; 15 grandchildren, Lee, Travis and Quentin Fixen, Jason, Brian, Dustin, Matt, Billie Jo, Angela, Paula, Nick, Ben, Ashley and Stephanie Evans and Danna Renner; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Linda Knighton of New Brighton; and her brother, Roger (and Joy) of Cross Lake; two sisters-in-law, Joanne and Bonnie Funk; also many other relatives and friends.
Lorraine was preceded in death by parents; husband, Delbert in 1997; two brothers, Donald and Jerald; one sister, Viola MacLachlan; one grandchild, Jessica Evans; and an infant brother.
