Lorraine Marie Gullickson

Lorraine Gullickson, age 86, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Prairie Home Fieldcrest in Cottonwood, Minnesota. Funeral Services are at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2024, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshall, Minnesota. Following a reception for attendees, Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Granite Falls, Minnesota, at 1:20 p.m. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. The evening will close with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will then continue one hour prior to her service, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall, Minnesota.

Lorraine Marie Buchholz was born on January 27, 1938, in Granite Falls, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ernest and Lorena (Schmidt) Buchholz. Lorraine was baptized in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls on May 1, 1938, and later confirmed there on June 8, 1952. She graduated from Granite Falls High School with the class of 1956, and worked for the Pioneer Telephone company in Granite Falls for a year and a half.

Lorraine married Jon Andrew Gullickson on June 3, 1961, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. The couple eventually moved to Marshall, Minnesota, where two children were born, Jana Marie (1966) and Jason Andrew (1969). Lorraine was a loving homemaker and mother and she and Jon shared over 63 years of marriage together.

Lorraine was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshall since 1966. She served her church as a Sunday school teacher, VBS superintendent, church treasurer, and financial secretary. Lorraine also assisted the Altar Guild, helping to make many of the church banners, and was heavily involved with staining and varnishing the woodwork in the new church addition.

Lorraine enjoyed being a homemaker, her family was always her priority. She also enjoyed doing volunteer work, delivering meals on wheels, sewing, crafting, bird watching, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and painting rocks.

Lorraine Gullickson died peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in Cottonwood, Minnesota. She had reached the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 14 days. Blessed be her memory.

She is survived by her husband, Jon Gullickson of Marshall; children, Jana (and Dave) Hansen of Brainerd, Jason (and Kathleen) of Harrison, ME; sister, Marlene Nordby of St. James; brothers, Merlin (and Sylvia) Buchholz of Granite Falls, Merald (and Barb) Buchholz of Granite Falls; many beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Lorena (in 1978) and Ernie (in 1990); infant brother, Lyle (in 1942); infant sister, Luella (in 1927); and a brother-in-law, Merwyn Nordby (in 2012).
