Lucille Frances Peters, age 87, of Marshall, passed away peacefully Monday, April 27, 2015, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. Mass of Christian Burial is to be held jointly with that of her husband, Robert Peters, at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 2, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood. Interment will follow in the St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery in Green Valley, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall with a rosary at 4:00 PM and a prayer service scheduled for 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service, from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, on Saturday at the church.

Lucille Frances Peters was born on March 9, 1928, in Marshall, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Harry and Vera (Schultz) Knieff. Lucille was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her youth in the Methodist faith. Lucille was the only student in her grade level while attending country school. She later graduated from Marshall High School with the class of 1945. Lucille enjoyed outings, such as roller skating, with her girlfriends. Lucille was employed as a telephone operator and her eyes always lit up with pride when she remembered those years.
On January 11, 1951, Lucille was united in marriage to Robert Peters at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley. She was a devoted homemaker and farm wife on the Peters’ family farm near Marshall. The couple was blessed with 3 boys and 3 girls: Byron, Gloria, Jeanette, Eileen, Melvin, and Karl. In 1986, they retired from farming. They shared over 64 years of marriage together before Robert passed away 8 days prior to Lucille’s passing.
Lucille was a faithful member of St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley where she served in the Women’s Circle. Her other enjoyments in life included crocheting, playing cards, keeping a diary and playing piano. She spent many hours in the kitchen baking and canning. She was incredibly supportive of her family and had a patient heart that was always willing to listen. She cherished her family and the time she was able to spend with them all.
Lucille Peters entered her heavenly home on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the age of 87 years, 1 month, and 18 days. Blessed be her memory.
Lucille is survived by her children, Byron (and Peggy) Peters of Ida Grove, IA, Gloria (and Randy) Althoff of Jordan, MN, Jeanette (and Dean) Boerboom of Cottonwood, MN, Eileen (and Gene) Schrunk of Marshall, MN, Melvin (and Heather) Peters of Adel, IA, Karl (and Suzanne) Peters of Burnsville, MN; 18 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Cecil Knieff of Marshall, MN; brother-in-law, Roland (and Esther) Peters of Marshall, MN; nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Vera Knieff; husband, Robert Peters; grandson, Luke Swedzinski (son of Eileen & Gene); sister, Shirley Robinson; and sister-in-law, Marjean Knieff.
The family invites everyone to the church basement following the interment for a luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to donor’s choice.
