Lucille Mary Rogge, age 93, of Marshall, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 24, 2017, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall, Minnesota. A reception for attendees will follow in Carlin Hall. Interment will be at a later date in St. Dionysius Catholic Cemetery in Tyler, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. A prayer service is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., on Monday at the church.
Lucille Mary Dubbeldee was born September 6, 1923, to Herman and Anne (Dressen) Dubbeldee in Tyler, Minnesota. Lucille grew up on a farm near Arco and was baptized, received first communion, and was confirmed at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler. She attended rural elementary school and then graduated from Tyler High School in 1941. Lucille furthered her education at the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis and then worked for the Selective Service.
On February 19, 1944, Lucille was united in marriage to Gerald Shellenberg and the couple made their home and farmed near Arco. Gerald died in a tractor accident in April of 1954 and Lucille moved her young boys, Wayne and Steve, into Marshall. On November 10, 1956 Lucille was married to Rene Rogge in Marshall and they added another son, John, to the family.
Lucille worked as a homemaker and then started with the Social Security Administration, doing clerical work, for 26 years. She retired in September of 1992. She was also very active in the community, volunteering with Hospice, the Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop, Senior Center, and as a school mentor. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and enjoyed quilting circles at church. She was a charter member of the board overseeing the hospital wellness center and a board member of the Senior Center in Marshall.
Lucille lived for her family and time spent with grandchildren. Her other enjoyments in life included hand quilting, crocheting, exercising, yard work, crossword puzzles, and conversing with friends over coffee. As Lucille needed increasing help, she was blessed to be care for at Hill Street Place and Boulder Creek in Marshall, and then the Prairie Home Hospice House.
Lucille died April 19, 2017, at the age of 93 years, 7 months, and 13 days. Blessed be her memory.
Lucille is survived by her three sons, Wayne (Rose) Shellenberg of Marshall, Steven (Ruth) Shellenberg of Marshall, John Rogge of Marshall; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Jennifer) Johnson, Katie Jo (Sam) Salatel, Ashlie (Jeremy) Vought, Ande (Sarah) Sik, Matthew (Pam) Rogge, Elizabeth Rogge, Zachary (Ashley) Rogge; sister, Teresa (Les) Kimball of Belview, NE; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many good friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Anne Dubbeldee; husbands, Gerald Shellenberg, Rene Rogge; sisters, Leona Schak, Bernice Lutterman, Marlene Illaug, and Evangeline Wyffels.
