Lyle Thiesse, age 88, of Marshall, Minnesota, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at his residence in Marshall. Memorial Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Christ United Presbyterian Church in Marshall, Minnesota. Interment will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Traditional Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. The evening will conclude with a prayer service and memory share at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Visitation will then continue at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
Lyle Herman William Thiesse was born on November 26, 1933, to Walter and Luella (Gieseke) Thiesse in Welcome, Minnesota. He graduated at Fairmont High School with the class of 1950.
In 1956 Lyle was married to Janice Minick. The couple made their home in Marshall and raised 4 children. Lyle was then united in marriage to Rebecca (Olson) Almjeld on July 16, 1999. The couple made their home in Marshall and thrived with a large, blended family.
Lyle worked for 44 years in the retail fertilizer business; the last 39 years were spent in Marshall. Most recently, he had spent 8 years with Helena Chemical prior to his retirement in 2015. Lyle was a faithful member of Christ United Presbyterian Church in Marshall. He was also a proud member of the Masons, and a past member of Marshall Shriners Club.
Lyle’s enjoyments in life centered around his family, traveling, golf, fishing. Lyle always had a passion for farming, he believed it provided education for life and that no other occupation can teach as much about birth, growth, and maturity - in such a variety of ways. Lyle was a proud man, soft spoken, yet stern; his words often carried needed wisdom. He was always an early riser as work needed be done. If you had the pleasure of talking to him on the phone, he never said goodbye, it was on to the next project or customer.
Lyle was also a great gardener and took pride in his flowers. His other enjoyments included bird watching, dancing, and playing the accordion. He was knowledgeable in many areas, constantly reading or searching the internet, and his memory of the past events would always surprise. Lyle’s sense of humor will never be forgotten and at social events, he was first to welcome you with a beverage.
Lyle Thiesse passed on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at his home in Marshall, just 11 days before his 89th birthday. Blessed be his memory.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Thiesse; 4 children Jeanyne (and Kent) Gomez, Jay (and Julie) Thiesse, Scott (and Karen) Thiesse, Sandra (and John) Enger; 4 step-children, James (and Connie) Almjeld, Chad (and Joannie) Almjeld, Shari Ogle, Sue (and Brent) Flot; sister, Finettta Cowman; brother, Victor Thiesse, 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Luella Thiesse; and brother, Dennis Thiesse.
