Russell: Margaret A. Anderson, age 93, of Russell, formerly of Ivanhoe, passed away at the Avera Morningside Care Center in Marshall on Monday, July 9, 2007. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 13, 2007 at the Grace First Parish in Russell. Burial will be in the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Margaret Alvina was born to Albert and Amanda (Landwehr) Christiansen on March 29, 1914 in Albert City, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Albert City High School in 1932.
Margaret was united in marriage to Allen Anderson. After the couple’s marriage, they farmed in Webb, Iowa until 1952; Lake Benton, Minnesota until 1961; and Russell, Coon Creek Township. Allen died in May of 1966. Margaret continued to live on the farm but was employed at a grocery store in Russell. She moved to Morningside Heights Nursing Home in 2005.
Margaret passed away at the Avera Morningside Care Center in Marshall on Monday, July 9, 2007. She had reached the age of 93 years, 3 months and 11 days.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Rogge, of Kingsville, Missouri; two grandsons, Allen and Chad; and three great-granddaughters, Victoria, Zoe and Alice.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Mona Donovan; and brother, Leroy.
Margaret’s enjoyments in life included sewing, crocheting, gardening, canning and cats. She was a “Tough Old Bird” who loved to dance.
She was an active member of Grace First Parish Church in Russell and involved in the Ladies Aid.
