Margaret Julia Kleine was born October 29, 1921, to John and Katherine (Wirtz) Kleine in Clear Lake, Minnesota. Margaret grew up in rural Milroy and graduated from the Milroy High School with the class of 1939.
Margaret was united in marriage to Marvin William Gilb on November 24, 1943, while on military assignment in Monroe, North Carolina. The couple farmed in Clifton Township while raising 5 children: Barbara, Diane, Marvin Jr., Alan, and Debra. They would share over 62 years of marriage before Marvin Sr. died in April of 2006.
In addition to being a loving farm wife and devoted homemaker, Margaret was a proud member of the Marshall VFW Auxiliary, Volunteer at Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall, past member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy, and currently attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall when she was able. Margaret had been living in Redwood Falls for the last several years to assist in her daily care.
Margaret’s enjoyments in life included traveling, baking, serving as a crossing guard for school children, gardening, bowling, and playing golf. She treasured time spent with family and friends.
Margaret Gilb died in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, at the age of 95 years, 4 months, and 6 days. Blessed be her memory.
Margaret is survived by her 5 children, Barbara (Richard) Brey of Milroy, Diane (Gary) Kramer of Hastings, Marvin Jr. (Vickie) Gilb of Marshall, Alan (Cris) Gilb of Marshall, Debra (Andy) Worrall of Baltimore, MD;
10 grandchildren, Eric (Melanie) Kramer, Stacy (Todd) Hauer, Jason Gilb (Sue Mercer), Jeremy (Beth) Gilb, Steven Schriener, Katie Schriener, Joel (Elaine) Brey, Paul Brey, Amy Gilb (Danny Shouhed), Andy (Kelly) Gilb; 7 great-grandchildren, Calvin Gilb, Will Brey, Jack Brey, Anna Hauer, Sarah Hauer, Brooklyn Kramer, Lincoln Gilb; sister-in-law, Dorothy Gilb of Marshall; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Katherine Kleine; husband, Marvin Gilb; and 5 siblings.
