Margaret Carolyn Lund

Margaret Lund, age 83, of Cottonwood, Minnesota, died on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the Avera Granite Falls Care Center. Memorial Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Living Word Lutheran Church in Marshall, Minnesota. Interment will follow in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Cottonwood, Minnesota. All attendees are then invited to a reception at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, beginning around 4:30 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of her celebration at 3:00 p.m.

Margaret Carolyn Reishus was born January 15, 1939, to Theron “Sandy” and Helen (Bjornebo) Reishus in South Gate, California. The family lived in both California and Minnesota for the first few years of Margaret’s life, settling in Cottonwood in 1944. The family then moved to the family farm in 1945. Margaret was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran faith and was later confirmed at Silo Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. She attended Cottonwood schools, graduating from high school in 1957. Margaret then attended business school in Mankato before moving to the Twin Cities. Upon returning to Cottonwood, she worked at the bank and as a secretary to the Superintendent of the Cottonwood school.

On November 28, 1968, Margaret married Paul Lund, Sr., at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. The two made a wonderful home for their children on the farm. Margaret was a dedicated mother, homemaker, and farm wife. She kept herself occupied outside the farm too working in the cafeteria in both the Cottonwood and Wood Lake schools.

Margaret’s sweet disposition was shared with the community through the many organizations she was part of. She was an active member of the church’s Ladies Aide, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and later in life was very active at the Senior Center in Cottonwood.
Margaret enjoyed playing cards, reading, gardening and canning her bounty. She soaked up the sunshine anytime available to lift her spirit but her most treasured moments involved her grandchildren. Margaret was intentional about keeping track of their daily lives and making them all feel her love daily. She will be dearly missed.

Margaret Lund died on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the age of 83 years, 10 months, and 4 days. Blessed be her memory.

Margaret is survived by her children, Leslie Slosar of Anderson, MO, Greg (Mary) Lund of Cottonwood, Paul Lund, Jr. of Cottonwood; 3 grandchildren, Nathan Lund, Alyssa (Tanner) Lux, David Truell; 3 great-grandchildren, Norah Lux, Emmitt Lux, Rowdy Lux; siblings, Richard (Joan) Reishus, Charlotte (Glenn) Morse, Jan Fong; sister-in-law, Barb Reishus; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sandy and Helen Reishus; husband, Paul Lund, Sr.; and brother, Wesley Reishus.
