Margaret Madalyn Vandendriessche was born on June 1, 1949, in Marshall, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Valere and Bertha (Gesquiere) Vandendriessche. Margaret grew up on the family farm near Ghent, Minnesota, and attended Catholic school. She was baptized, received her first communion, and was confirmed at St. Eloi Catholic Church. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1967 and then furthered her education at Southwest State University in Marshall.

On September 19, 1970, Margaret was united in marriage to Keith Moat at Christ United Presbyterian Church in Marshall. The couple made their home briefly in Marshall before moving South of town on the acreage they have called home ever since. Margaret initially worked as a secretary for a mobile home and car dealer in Marshall then became a stay-at-home Mom once she had children. She later returned to work, serving concessions at the Tiger's Den at Marshall High School and then working for Taher Food Service as a baker until her retirement in 2012.

Margaret was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School with her mother-in-law, Ella Moat, for over 50 years and was a member of the Presbyterian Women. She was active for 30 years in a card club and she enjoyed quilting and sewing with her granddaughter. Margaret was a very hard worker and inherited her parents' work ethic. She kept an orderly and spotless house and thoroughly enjoyed cooking and entertaining others - especially during the holidays. Margaret was also a master gardener; her vegetable and flower gardens thrived!

Margaret Moat died peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in Pipestone, Minnesota. She had reached the age of 75 years, 1 month, and 29 days. Blessed be her memory.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Keith Moat of Marshall, son, Scott (and Jan) Moat of Marshall; daughter, Tanya Moat of Marshall; 3 grandchildren, Andrew Moat (and fiancée Sofiya Silchuk) of Harrisburg, SD, Aaron Moat of Sioux Falls, SD, Alexis Moat of Grand Forks, ND; sister, Marlene (and Terry) Baumgard of Ruthton; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Valere and Bertha Vandendriessche; uncle, Albert Gesquiere; aunts, Martha Gesquiere, Leona Gesquiere; parents-in-law, Donald and Ella Moat; and brother-in-law, Stephen Swanson.
