Margaret Alvina Racette

Marshall: Margaret Racette, age 91, of Marshall, passed away at Minneota Manor on Sunday, September 15, 2013.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, September 19th at First Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service Wednesday at the Hamilton Funeral Home and continue at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens in Montevideo.
Margaret Alvina was born to Enock and Anna (Nyquist) Swenson on June 5, 1922 in Bowbells, North Dakota. She was baptized as an infant and later moved with her family to Canby where she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On November 3, 1941, Margaret was united in marriage to Walter Heise. To this union five children were born, namely; Shari, Carol, Dennis, Doug and Mike. They farmed near Canby until they moved to Marshall in 1958. When Walter died in 1964, Margaret began to raise her young family alone. In 1966, Margaret met and married Henry Racette. Margaret was a wonderful homemaker and loved doing things for her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her enjoyments included delivering Meals on Wheels, baking and embroidering. Margaret was widowed again when Henry died in 1989.
She is survived by four of her children, Shari (Mike) Verdeck of Marshall, Carol (Bill) Merritt of North Mankato, Doug (Rosemary) Heise of Marshall and Mike (Marsha) Heise of West Allis, WI; grandchildren, Matt (Julie), Quinn, and Merissa Merritt, Mick (Roshelle), Jesse, and Ashley Verdeck, Michael Jr. and Corey Heise, Lexi Lorbach, Stacey Vanderostyne and Heather Hurt; great grandchildren, Derek and Logan Porter, Sullivan Verdeck, Michael and Makenzie Elgren, Chelsea, Brandon, Brooks, Taylor, Jade, Ashlynn and Kyler Hurt, and Derek and Brent Heise; great-great grandchildren, Hunter, Landyn and Mason; sister-in-law, Alta Heise of Canby; brother-in-law, Sonny (Vicki) Heise of MI; also many other relatives and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Walter and Henry; son, Dennis (December 19, 2008); grandson, Todd Heise; seven siblings, Lillian Christensen, Walter Swenson, Ruth Hacker, Mildred Holmlund, Evelyn Christensen, Milton Swenson and Gloria Pioritti.
Margaret was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church at the time of her death.
