Marietta Jarcho, age 98, of Cottonwood, Minnesota, died on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall, 8 days shy of her 99th birthday. Memorial Services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2021, at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, Minnesota. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at 2:00 p.m., also at the church.
Marietta Telecky was born on July 26, 1922, in Hutchinson Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of William and Francis (Mickesh) Telecky. Marietta grew up in McLeod County and was baptized at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake, Minnesota. Marietta was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. After graduating from Nursing School, she and her close friend, Grace, decided to travel the country, working as Licensed Practical Nurses, however, while in New York, the Second World War started. They stayed unitl 1945, before returning to Minnesota.
Marietta was married to Elmer “Slim” Jarcho in 1947 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Hanley Falls and then Cottonwood, Minnesota raising their only child, Craig. Marietta continued her work as a nurse, dedicating years of care in Granite Falls, Minnesota. In retirement, she worked at Lakeview School as an aide in the kitchen until the age of 91.
Her enjoyments in life included playing Bridge, cooking, tending to her gardens, and seeing her grandsons and great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood where she served with the WELCA.
She is survived by her grandsons, Kyle Jarcho (Talicia) of Cottonwood, Bryn (Kelly) Jarcho of Mankato; Marilyn Jarcho of Cottonwood; great-grandchildren, Brennen Jarcho, Eastyn Ochocki, Keadyn Jarcho, Kinsley Jarcho, Cole G., Greyson G., Bryn Jarcho, plus another great-granddaughter due in November; other relatives and friends.
Marietta is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Slim Jarcho; son, Craig Jarcho; and sister, Dorothy Misek. Blessed be her memory.
