Matthew John Pedersen

Matthew Pedersen, age 38, of Arco, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, October 18, 2018. Memorial Services are 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2017, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Marshall. Following a reception, Interment will be in the Lynd City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. A prayer service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., on Friday at the church.

Matthew John Pedersen was born on March 28, 1980, in Nobles County, Minnesota. He was adopted in his youth and raised by John and Beth Pedersen. He was baptized in Round Lake, Minnesota, in the Methodist faith and attended school at Russel-Tyler-Ruthton and Lynd before moving to Richfield. He finished at Oakdale High School in 1998 and then worked in residential construction.

Matt moved around, living in and exploring Wyoming and Alabama before returning to Minnesota. He bought his house in Arco 4 years ago. He recently worked for Twin City Fan and Blower Company in Elkton, South Dakota.

Matt had a heart for family and for animals, especially his 2 Pit Bulls and Min Pin. He enjoyed going to auctions with his mother, tinkering on cars, and snowmobiling in the winter. Matt passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018, in Arco, Minnesota, at the age of 38 years, 6 months, and 20 days. Blessed be his memory.


Matt is survived by his mother, Beth Kor of Arco; grandparents, Lorraine and Ronald “Junior” Strom of Lynd; sister, Kristi Pedersen-Melsha of Arco; 3 children, Ciara of Woodbury, Drey of Oakdale, Hunter of Des Moines, IA; his beloved dogs, Love, Bear, Heart; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Pedersen; maternal grandfather, John Kor; and paternal grandparents, Alfred and Esther Pedersen.
